@eatswithwendy ✨ Dumpling dreams or just a pretty plate? 🥟🌈 Visited Jingle Bao in Downtown Vancouver, famous for their vibrant, colorful dumplings that look almost too good to eat. Tried their signature Seven Magnificent Xiao Long Bao—bright and beautiful, but honestly, some of the weakest soup dumplings we’ve had: tiny fillings and barely any broth. The Lobster XLB looked fancy but raised some freshness concerns with a fishy taste, and getting broth through that straw was a struggle. The Crystal Pink Shrimp dumplings? Stunning to look at, but lacked flavor. Surprise winner? The Mapo Tofu — classic comfort that really saved the meal. So if you’re here for the visuals, Jingle Bao delivers. But if you’re chasing flavor… maybe look elsewhere. 📍Jingle Bao 774 Denman St, Vancouver, BC V6G 2L5 #yvreats #yvrfoodies #yvrfoodieeats #yvrfood #yvrfoodblogger ♬ original sound – eatswithwendy

  • We were super excited to try this out because of how pretty it looks on social media
  • We were told walk-in only during dinner time but there were only 2 customers when we walked in…
  • This is a prime example of the more expectations the more disappointments…
Full Reviews – A frustrating one

Seven Magnificent Xiao Long Bao

  • Colorful for sure but these are some of the worst xiao long bao we ever tasted.
  • The fillings are tiny and the broth was almost non existence.

Lobster Colorful XLB

  • The most wasteful use of a lobster.
  • The broth was incredibly hard to suck using a straw.
  • But again, very colorful and interesting looking.

Crystal Pink Shrimp Dumpling

  • Very pretty.
  • Very bland.
  • Very disappointing.

Mapo Tofu

  • Ordinary and expected mapo tofu flavors.
  • The heat was just right.
  • This literally save the night as we couldn’t finish the 3 other dishes.
