AMA Bar in Vancouver is a Japanese-inspired cocktail lounge and raw bar offering an elevated night-out experience. Highlights include:
- Drink Quality: Exceptional cocktails, perfectly balanced and expertly crafted—truly a must-visit for cocktail lovers.
- Creativity & Concept: Stylish speakeasy theme and creative menu, though it’s fairly easy to find, so not a true hidden gem. (-1)
- Ambience & Design: Inviting, cozy, and thoughtfully designed with rust-coloured walls, semi-transparent golden mirrors, and cinematic lighting; minor flaw: magnetic coat hanger didn’t work. (-1)
- Service & Hospitality: Attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly staff, making every visit smooth and enjoyable.
- Value for Money: Premium experience at a fair price, excellent value for the quality of drinks and service.
Overall, AMA Bar excels across the board. Minor issues with concept and design don’t take away from an otherwise flawless speakeasy experience.
@eatswithwendy ✨ Great Idea for Friday Night ✨😎 AMA Bar in Vancouver really impressed us. Every dish felt well thought out, from the sashimi to the pasta — rich, balanced, and beautifully plated. The cocktails were just as creative, with flavors that actually worked. It’s the kind of spot that delivers on both presentation and taste, making it a solid pick for your next date night or dinner with friends. 📍 AMA bar 3980 Fraser St, Vancouver, BC V5V 4E4 #yvreats #yvrfoodies #yvrfoodieeats #yvrfood #yvrfoodblogger ♬ original sound – eatswithwendy

Menu and Review – Starred = Tried/Reviewed
Shiromi Sashimi
Simply fresh sashimi.
Uni Pasta
We cant really taste the uni but it was a really good pasta. Buttery and Al Dente
Salmon Hako Sushi
We just learned the aburi sushi is torched and hako sushi is boxed. Good sushi nonetheless.
Zaachila Breeze (Left)
A play on traditional mezcal with a subtle hint of strawberry.
Nutty By Nature (Right)
Vanilla and Brown Butter are 2 things I don’t want in my cocktail but somehow they pulled it off.
Game, Set, Matcha (Left)
Suntory and Yuzu. The perfect combo. The matcha is purely for decoration purposes.
Con Coca (Right)
We don’t know what the AMA secret is but it went insanely hard with the Rum.
AMA Martini (Right)
Martini but Sake? Who would’ve known.
Ever Gold (Left)
Their version of Old Fashioned and we weren’t disappointed.
AMA Shot
My God this hits hard but it was so goooood.
No dishes found.
Fun Facts / Things to Know
- Fact 1: The name “AMA” pays tribute to Japan’s women pearl divers—ama—who held their breath for long periods to gather oysters and pearls from the sea. That legacy of depth, discovery, and refined taste lives on in the restaurant’s seafood-forward menu and elegant ambiance.
