Whisk Matcha Cafe

Introduction – All Credits go to ChatGPT

Whisk Matcha Cafe in Mount Pleasant is a plant-based matcha haven where quality meets creativity. Located at 39 Kingsway, it’s co-housed with Level V Bakery, serving artisanal Japanese matcha from Uji, Kyoto, alongside vegan baked goods and specialty coffee. Whether you’re in for a ceremonial matcha latte, a soft-serve cone in matcha or hojicha flavour, or a light lunch, it’s a cozy spot that blends elegance with warmth in every sip.

@eatswithwendy We’ve been seeing Whisk pop up all over social media lately, so we finally decided to check out what the hype was about. It’s known for its matcha drinks and minimalist café vibe — perfect for a chill afternoon stop. We tried a few drinks and here’s how it went 👇 Premium Matcha Soy Latte — not too sweet (which we loved), but the soy milk kind of took over the matcha flavor. It also felt like they used a bit too much powder — even more than Ellipsis — so it ended up a little chalky by the last sip. Black Sugar Matcha Oat Latte — unique, sure, but nothing too memorable. Same issue with the powder — maybe the current matcha shortage has something to do with it? 👀 The Strawberry Matcha was easily the best — they actually use real strawberry bits, and that freshness really came through. The Yuzu one was light and refreshing — perfect for summer but not something we’d crave often. ☀️#yvreats #yvrfoodies #yvrfoodieeats #yvrfood #yvrfoodblogger @Whisk Matcha Cafe ♬ My Addiction – Alex Guesta

  • Cute store with a few window-side seats.
  • If the store is busy, your sitting time is soft-limited to 1 hr.
  • We went here after Ellipsis because of the disappointing matcha drink.

Premium Maycha Soy Latte (Left)

  • We enjoyed this since it was not overly sweet.
  • The soy milk however overwhelmed the matcha flavor.
  • We felt like this even had more powder than Ellipsis, which just meant more got stuck in our throats.

Black Sugar Matcha Oat Latte (Right)

  • It sure tasted different but not special enough to try again.
  • Same deal with the amount of matcha powder used. Maybe the matcha shortage has something to do with stores not being able to source good matcha?
