Introduction – All Credits go to ChatGPT
New Fuji, located in Kitsilano at 1815 West 1st Avenue, is another addition to the Toyokan/Kingyo/Raijo family of restaurants. Its retro-inspired décor nods to 70s and 80s Japan—think city pop memorabilia, robots, and vintage touches—while the food menu delivers Japanese comfort elevated: shareable bites, meat sushi, udon dishes, uni and wagyu donburi, and inventive cocktails. Casual yet polished, it’s perfect for date nights, small groups, or anytime you want something fun and flavorful.

Menu and Review – Starred = Tried/Reviewed
Sapporo Beer
One pitcher to end a long and matcha-fueled day was as poetic as it can be. We thought that as Summer ends, beer wouldn’t be a wise choice, but we were wrong.
Truffle Corn Karaage
The first bite felt like someone punched us with a fist of salt and sugar. The flavors were so powerful, we finished our first mug of beer in seconds.
Cheese Tofu
The refreshing cheese tofu with the sweetness of the figs worked so well together. The cheese tofu reminded us of the burrata at Gigi’s (give it a try if you head to Coquitlam anytime soon). If you just want to end the night with drinks like us, and are looking for snacks, this and Truffle Corn Karaage are a great combo.
Pork Wrapped Garlic Stem
Let’s just say we never skip this dish whenever we come to New Fuji.
